Young athletes delighted everyone at the first Plazma Sports Games final in Slovenia
Plazma Youth Sports Games started their activities in Slovenia this year, and yesterday, they successfully finished the first final in Ljubljana, in the Kodeljevo Sports Park. The event was filled with tense sports moments, drama in the last minutes, and, above all, smiles on the faces of the children. The participants competed in a 60-meter run, dodgeball, handball, and football. The main goal of Plazma Youth Sports Games is to promote fun and make new friends, but in the foreground were also competitions that brought the first winners. They will represent the colors of Slovenia at the international competition that will be held in Split in August, where they will travel completely free of charge.
Zdravko Marić, president of the Youth Sports Games, expressed his pride at the end of the event, saying, “The success of the first final of the Plazma Youth Sports Games in Slovenia is a testament to the passion and dedication of our young athletes. It’s truly a sight to behold, and we’re excited to see them showcase their talents on a larger stage at the international competition in Split.”
The best athletes and dodgeball teams competed as part of the Telemach Day of Sports in Slovenia. In the 2013 and younger category of the 60-meter race final, Maša Kovačič and Žan Korenič emerged as the winners, showcasing their speed and agility. In the 2015 category, the younger Lovro Mužan Vidic and Ninel Polimac demonstrated their athletic prowess and won.
In dodgeball (a game between two fires), the victory was won by Primorska in the 2013 and younger category, where students of the 5th A grade of Sečovlje Primary School showed their “fire.” In the 2015 category, first place was won by the 3rd-grade students of Elementary School Anton Tomaž Linhart Radovljica, team 3. D – Cool fires.
In the football spectacle of the Coca-Cola Cup, which was followed live on the TV channels Arena Sport 1, Sportklub, and through the website www.24ur.com, the football players of NK Škofje Loka and NK Trebnje competed in the final of the U16 category in the men’s competition. The players of Gorenje defeated their peers from Dolenje with a score of 8:3. In the U16 competition, the players of NK Aluminij celebrated after the penalty shootout by defeating NK Krim Ljubljana.
In the U11 category, the players of NK Krka celebrated, showed an exceptional generation, and defeated their peers in the final. The best scorer joined the young hopefuls in the history of the Slovenian national team Zlatko Zahović and former national team goalkeeper Marko Simeunović.
Tevž Korent, president of the Plazma Youth Sports Games in Slovenia, said: “I am proud of all the participants who showed exceptional sportsmanship and fighting spirit. This event is a sports competition and a celebration of friendship and camaraderie.”
In the under-16 handball competition, the players of RK Bluemarine Hrpelje Kozina defeated RK Mlinotest Ajdovščina. In the men’s competition, the boys of RK Jeruzalem Ormož beat RD LL Grosist Slovan and thus qualified for the final tournament in Split.
The women’s beach volleyball final under the age of 16, which took place on June 15 in Žužemberk, was won by the hosts Pia Pintar and Žana Horvat, while Valentin Predan and Peter Bregar celebrated in the men’s competition. The players of OK Formis have already celebrated at the tournament in small volleyball under 16 years of age.
In April, a table tennis tournament was held. Slovenia was represented in individual categories by Miha Podobnik from NTK Savinja and Sara Tolić from NTK Vrtojba. In pairs, Miha Podobnik and Brin Vovk Petrovski (NTK Savinja) and Sara Tokić and Polona Horvat (NTK Vrtojba and NTK Fužinar) won, and in mixed pairs, Brin Vovk Petrovski and Polona Horvat won.

The street basketball final will be held on June 21 in Sežana, and the chess final on June 22 in Ljubljana. The final of the Kolektor Cup in tennis will be held in the first week of August, ending the first season of the Plazma Youth Sports Games in Slovenia.
