The national final of 28th YSG season in Croatia
Over 2,000 children gathered in Rijeka for the National Finals of Plazma Youth Sports Games. The best young athletes once again showed how much they value these competitions and the friendships formed through YSG. Competitors arrived in three shifts via HŽ Transport and during their three-day stay in Rijeka, they had the chance to meet peers from all over Croatia, enjoy the beach and have a fantastic time.
We’re excited to continue our journey with the best teams at the International Finals, including Coca-Cola Cup teams: NK GOŠK 1919 Dubrovnik and ŽNK Rijeka in the U16 category. Coca-Cola Cup, the largest youth futsal tournament in Europe, is not only a platform for promoting sports values, fair play, and team spirit among the youth but also a celebration of the growing participation of girls’ teams, something we are particularly proud of in our collaboration with the UEFA Foundation for Children. At the Zamet fields, we played matches in the U18 category, where the team Protisak from Slavonski Brod took home the trophy and gold medals. The awards were presented by Darko Raić Sudar, the Sports Director of NK Rijeka.
The Mladost Hall hosted HEP handball tournament, with teams Metalac and RK Novska earning their tickets to Split. The top team of the Tommy futsal tournament, ŠN Batrina, celebrated their victory with former footballer Ivan Močinić, who awarded them their medals.
In table tennis, competitions were held in three categories for both boys and girls. We also played MIS volleyball tournament, where Bile Vile from Split took the title in the girls’ category and Zagi in the boys’. We didn’t just play indoors—beach volleyball was also a hit, with teams Toki Šoki and Noćni Jahači enjoying and winning the competition. Kvarner tennis courts hosted PAKET24 Cup, with Vilmos Szuczs, Filip Košćak, Lena Fonaj and Helan Juraj qualifying for the International Finals.
We had a blast at the Telemach Day of Sports, where the top team in the 2013 and younger category was Cekači and in the 2015 and younger category, the legendary team Vatreni Zmajčeki, who have been Croatia’s top dodgeball team for four years running and will defend their title at the International Finals. Alongside dodgeball, young athletes wowed us with their speed in the 60-meter race. The exciting Kinder Joy basketball tournament took place at the Trsat Student Center courts, where Marsovci won in the boys’ category and Radnice in the girls’. Year after year, we’ve seen a growing number of chess participants at YSG, so it’s no surprise that PBZ Cup National Finals had some intense competition. Erik Golubović, along with Mislav Blažević, Lana Car, and Nora Ljiljić, will represent Croatia YSG in Split this year.
Thank you to all the children for participating and congratulations on being part of another successful year where they together with us demostrate importance of sports and a healthy lifestyle. For us, all 110,000 participants Plazma Youth Sports Games in Croatia are winners!
